I read the post from James proclaiming the results, and actually jumped up out of my chair and announced the victory to my family.
The were uncontrollable; they stormed out of the house and onto the lawn, and then tore down and carried off the mail-box post. Later, they returned and torched my '95 Saturn station wagon. Luckily I had some pepper spray left over from the Buckeye game.
I then informed them of the best news of all: homemade pie! You can read all about the creation of the masterpiece here. Read all the way to end, and you'll see the supreme sacrifice Traci went through to make the pie.
This report picks up from there.
Too anxious to finish reading mail, I immediately grab the nearest sharp utensil and head for the mailbox...
Fork in hand, waiting for pie.
OK, so my mail isn't normally due for another 5 hours, but I'm not budging...
Still waiting for pie.
Sweet Fancy Moses! It's here!
While you were sleeping.
I rush the package inside, place it gently on the counter, and begin to have second thoughts. What are the homeland security guidelines about this kind of situation?
Do I open the package, or call the bomb squad?
Throwing caution to the wino, I tear into the package...
So far, so good!
Oh, the humanity! Is it possible the pie has arrive DOA?
Should I be worried? "I swear, with God as my witness,
I thought pies could fly!"
Not to worry - Traci's excellent pie-packing skills have saved the day!
Excellent!! Pies can fly!!
Now, how best to enjoy the pie? With a tall glass of cold milk? Milk and raspberries -- maybe not.
Pie, with a lovely beverage.
In this situation, I ask myself what a former Pie Guessing champion would do. WWTD?
Pie, with an even more lovely beverage.
Well, maybe not before lunch. How about some decaf?
Pie with Java.
In the end, I enjoyed the first slice of pie with both the milk and coffee; I'm such a glutton.
I have to say, the pie tastes excellent. I wish I could offer a slice to everybody out there, but that would require sharing. And that ain't gonna happen.
